Day 2 (Missoula to Minneapolis) - RunnerSpace.com/Travels Season 1

Calvin notes that there are more cows than humans as we drive through eastern Montana. It is truly amazing to look around for miles in every direction and see a peppering of future hamburgers and steaks across an otherwise frozen desert. Think Tatooine with crumbier dirt farming. Still, in a time when America is recognized by its coastal metroplitans, it's refreshing to travel through a place that is ignorant of sprawl, conditional use permits, and door-to-door phonebook deliveries. I half expect to see John Wayne coming over the hillside on horseback, but remembering that even he is a product of much more material world, I like to think he would probably present himself on hovercraft. Wordsworth thought 'the world is too much with us' and the Dude didn't even live to see twitter or Lady Gaga. Even he would have difficulty writing a haiku about the great nothingness (Never Ending Story?) before us, but surely this would be the first place he would go to, either by horse or hovercraft. We hope this is the longest leg of the journey. After leaving Missoula around 7am, we are on track to arrive in Minneapolis by 3am and leave again a few hours later. Thanks to Beth and Forrest Russell—our hosts with incredible bedside manner and hospitality for strangers. ---------------------
