Day 13 (New Balance Indoor Grand Prix) - RunnerSpace.com/Travels Season 1

I have had trouble sleeping the last few nights because Calvin keeps accidentally waking me up. His restlessness is an indicator of his nerves, no doubt, and I begin to feel them too leading into such a big event. Today is the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. We thought we would get an early start to the day—a little bit too early it seems. The media area had not yet been assembled when we rolled in about seven hours early. Not only were we prepared to present the greatest track and field coverage by a website that did not own the rights to race footage, we had a birthday to celebrate! It was Jenn Suhr's birthday and we thought we'd be swell guys/creepers by getting her a cake. See video. It was a great meet with loaded fields. The Men's 3000m and Mile were particularly exciting and also surprising. The focal athletes of each event, Mo Farah and Nick Willis, were not victorious today but there were some outstanding performances from less-heralded athletes. We had a late night uploading interviews and photos and by the time we left we were the only ones there besides the cleaning crew. After taking the T back to Cambridge, we went to Hong Kong on Mass Ave on a recommendation. A line of college kids wrapped along the side of the building as if Lynyrd Skynyrd was playing inside. Now stuffed with food, going to bed is looking like a very attractive option. ---------------------
